" I'm no reformer; for I see more light
than darkness in the world; mine eyes are quick
to catch the first dim radiance of the dawn,
and slow to note the cloud that threatens the storm.
The fragrance and the beauty of the rose
delight me so, slight thought I give its thorn;
And the sweet music of the lark's clear song
stays longer with me than the night hawk's cry.
And e'en in this great throe of pain called Life,
I find a rapture linked with each despair,
well worth the price of anguish.
I detect more good than evil in humanity.
Love lights more fires than hate extinguishes,
and men grow better as the world grows old."
{Ella Wheeler Wilcox}
March delights and raptures:
family trip to Seattle...
how fun it is to explore,
see the sights, drink great coffee
and just simply be in the moment.
Still reminiscing over the sheer delight
I felt as I entered the Suzzallo Library
on the campus of the University of Washington.
What wonders my heart beheld as my eyes took in
the absolute beauty and grandeur of this library.
A dream come true for this literary lover's soul.
Most of the month was spent settled deep in
the joys of my own library with a book in my lap.
I'm still finding immense satisfaction
in reading the classics.
As spring begins to emerge,
I feel my energy perk and optimism rise...
it's a good feeling after this long winter.
Looking forward to the arrival of the light,
the lengthening of the days.
Feeling the whisperings of creativity
taking root again...
